Yes it was the Brentwood Half marathon, over 20 years ago, and I wore a pair of the famous Ron Hill Union jack shorts |
| How often do you bother to go training? |
Four to 5 times a week in the gym at the moment due to a long term injury. |
| What is your favourite training run? |
The lighthouse run along the cliffs out to Trevose head on the north coast in Cornwall, no cars all off road, first thing in the morning fantastic views. |
| What was your best ever race? |
Is there any such thing as a good race? All my races seem to be long, hard and painful. |
| And what was your worst or most embarrassing race? |
It was a few years ago at the Chelmsford and district schools championships. I was running in the 1500m steeplechase, got to the first water jump, put one foot on the barrier and the next thing I knew I was face first in the water. I did finish the race in last place. It was the first and last time I took part in the steeplechase |

No, I just try and get the race over with as soon as possible |

Any pair of New Balance shoes |
| Worst piece of gear? |
I purchased a pair of Saucony Grid 900s. They were very expensive, and a total waste of money. I tried everything to make them work, but the shoes ended up in the bin. |
| Why do you run when you could be sat at home watching EastEnders? |
The gym/running keeps me awake |

It's better than falling asleep in front of the TV. |
| What is the one piece of advice you would give to any new runner? |
Enjoy it. |
