Michelle Simpson

What's your full embarrassing name? Michelle Simpson - the first name is fine, but come on...Simpson?!!
Married, or are you young, free and single and like to mingle? Married and old, but still try to mingle
Where do you live? Live in Chaos, in a corner of Titchfield Common.
Do you work or stay at home? I stay at home and work very hard - looking after our own children, plus childminding, plus Andy!
How long have you been a member at Stubbington? I haven't been a member for a year yet.
Can you remember your first race? Apart from the odd sprint to the bar in my younger days, and running after men that were no good for me, I am new to this! My first memorable race is the Totton 10K and I wouldn't have made it round if I hadn't had the charming Gary Littlecott strolling beside me (He's my hero!).
How often do you bother to go training? It depends - max twice a week ( I know can hardly call myself a member. I haven't run since Feb this year).
What is your favourite training run? mmmm..... not done too many. One where I can have a good conversation and sweat a little!
What was your best ever race? Never had a good race - time wise! Most enjoyable race was a Today's Runner. I can't remember the place but it was very muddy and I loved it!
And what was your worst or most embarrassing race? All of them! When you are married to Andy the pressure is on to do a good time - mainly from Andy!
Do you have a pre-race ritual? Worry myself silly the night before and right up until I cross the finish line!
What is the best piece of gear you have bought? I don't buy any gear, I leave that to my husband. His best purchase for me was my cross country shoes - I love them like my slippers!
Worst piece of gear? He gave me a small water bottle, the type you grip hold of whilst running, you have to suck so hard to get anything out. It wears me out!!
Why do you run when you could be sat at home watching EastEnders? Fear of ending up looking like Pat Butcher if I don't do something about my weight.
What does she/he who must be obeyed think about your running? Need I say? I should get out training more - do more races and when I have given birth in October rush back to running in time for the cross country season!
What is the one piece of advice you would give to any new runner? Enjoy it for yourself - set yourself goals but ones that mean something to you. Don't compare yourself to others and feel bad. (Can't say I listen to this myself though!)
