| What's your full embarrassing name? |
Marcus Timothy Lee |
| Married, or are you young, free and single and like to mingle? |
Married to Caz. |
| Where do you live? |
Titchfield Common |
| Do you work or stay at home? |
Work as an engineer for a company making lasers in Hedge End. |
| How long have you been a member at Stubbington? |
Since May 2005. |
| Can you remember your first race? |
Ran the Emsworth to Basingstoke relay back in 1998 for a works team and realised how unfit I was!! |
| How often do you bother to go training? |
4-5 times a week – try for one speed session and a longer run where possible. |
| What is your favourite training run? |
Any runs along by the water – especially the cliffs leading to Meon. Also, in a sadistic way, I enjoy the Titchfield rollers on a Thursday night. |
| What was your best ever race? |
Particularly enjoy the team events eg: South Downs and Test Way. I also really enjoyed running the London Marathon in 2005 for the atmosphere. Possibly best result is the New Forest 10 where I got a good pb on a hard course. |
| And what was your worst or most embarrassing race? |
Being just beaten by my Mum at the Great South Run after running a respectable 76mins!! Unfortunately I can’t persuade her to join or run for Stubbington!! |
| Do you have a pre-race ritual? |
Bland pasta the night before and Immodium on the day (good advice from a fellow Stubby). |
| What is the best piece of gear you have bought? |
Two pieces – gilet and decent sports underwear!! |
| Worst piece of gear? |
Rain-proof jacket – agree with Ray Gunner on this. |
| Why do you run when you could be sat at home watching EastEnders? |
Can’t stand soaps (not that the rest of the TV is much better) – enjoy the exercise and also keeps my weight under control. |
| What does she/he who must be obeyed think about your running? |
Thinks it’s a better hobby than motorbikes and can’t complain too much as she’s been gadding around playing badminton for years. |
| What is the one piece of advice you would give to any new runner? |
Start slowly, don’t expect too much and make sure you enjoy your running – joining a club helps. |
