1982 Inter Colleges Half Marathon at Brockenhurst. I finished in 1hr 48mins or thereabouts.not much training that I can recall. |
| How often do you bother to go training? |
Less than I should or would like, but more than a lot of people. |
| What is your favourite training run? |
Holly Hill, on down to Hamble River, and back round past the Nautical College. |
| What was your best ever race? |
Most planned and prepared for, and therefore best overall, was the Flora London Marathon in 2003. |
| And what was your worst or most embarrassing race? |
Near embarrassing moment was at the London Marathon in 2003. I slowed in the last mile to cross the line in a composed manner, only to be overtaken by Superman who had been laid "dying" on the pavement only a few minutes earlier. I think that Kryptonite should be a banned substance! |
| Do you have a pre-race ritual? |
Leave late, drive like a mad thing, park miles away, leave no time to queue for the toilets, and use the first mile as a warm up! |

Nike windproof top that doesn't breathe, it just holds the sweat in..lovely! |
| Why do you run when you could be sat at home watching EastEnders? |
It's available "On Demand" now on NTL, but there again so is Robin Hood and I don't watch that either. |
| What does she/he who must be obeyed think about your running? |
Puts up with it. A man has to have some hobbies. Always asks how long I'll be.I always answer about half an hour. It works every time! |
| What is the one piece of advice you would give to any new runner? |
Never answer Andy Simpson's emails, you'll be running through a field in Wiltshire before you know it! |
