| What's your full embarrassing name? |
Nancy Geraldine Perrier (Thank God we use our middle name in Mauritius..Nancy, what were they thinking of?) |
| Married, or are you young, free and single and like to mingle? |
Married |
| Where do you live? |
Lee on Solent |
| Do you work or stay at home? |
I work for a company called Bowhills. We let properties in France and I source the new properties and contract new owners. So get to travel to France quite a bit! |
| How long have you been a member at Stubbington? |
I have not been a member for a year yet. |
| Can you remember your first race? |
My first race was for the cross country league in Mauritius for the under 15. In a sugarcane field somewhere on the East coast of Mauritius. In scorching weather and I came third...I was only 12 and was amazed that my opponents could run without any shoes and still win! |
| How often do you bother to go training? |
It depends: I try to run at least 3 times a week, gym 2 times a week, raquet ball at least once a week! |
| What is your favourite training run? |
From Lee or Stubbington, through Titchfield, up on the cliffs, through Hillhead and back to Lee. The speed sessions are also very challenging but I could not say which one is my favourite, they are all pretty painful! |
| What was your best ever race? |
400m final in Mauritius for an Inter-Island competition. We had been away in training for about 3 weeks and we knew the competition was going to be fierce. Finished first with a PB and made my Dad and trainer very proud. |
| And what was your worst or most embarrassing race? |
Hmmmmm...I'll have to think about this one! |
| Do you have a pre-race ritual? |
Warm up for about 30 minutes, lots of stretches and strides. |
| What is the best piece of gear you have bought? |
Cedric, my husband bought me two Nike dri-fit tops! Swear by them! |
| Worst piece of gear? |
I have been lucky so far! |
| Why do you run when you could be sat at home watching EastEnders? |
I run because I stopped for far too long (10 years). It makes me feel alive and I like to keep fit. |
| What does she/he who must be obeyed think about your running? |
Cedric thinks I will disappear with the amount of running I do but he is very supportive, even though he thinks I am mad. He gets to play golf and I get to run so we are both winners! |
| What is the one piece of advice you would give to any new runner? |
Try to balance studies/work and running. Never let one take over the other! Just enjoy it! |
