Georgie Gair

Georgie Gair

What's your full embarrassing name?

Georgina Gair (not embarrassing really)

Married, or are you young, free and single and like to mingle?

Young, free, single and LOVING it!

Where do you live?

Waterlooville, Cowplain area

Do you work or stay at home?

I work as a fitness coach and sports therapist but I’m also still a student so still have the easy life really!

How long have you been a member at Stubbington?

Beginning of this summer, 2009

Can you remember your first race?

Yes, I was last for the U15 girls at a schools event, I was the only one that wore trainers in knee deep mud and must have walked more than half of it. I was the only one still left on the course and was receiving the pitty claps! Very embarrassing! So I’m definitely not naturally talented!

How often do you bother to go training?

I train about 8 times a week with some days double days, with Friday as the rest day!

What is your favourite training run?

I love my long runs on Sundays; I do them at Soberton mostly off road.

What was your best ever race?

That’s a tough one...... my best achievement was 18th at the world XC trails at Nottingham, no one was expecting it and my mum, dad and Penny almost missed me coming in, I was on TV too so that’s a bonus.
But to me I feel my best race ever was Butser in 2008, I won it at the youngest age you could be, I just love that hill!

And what was your worst or most embarrassing race?

I don’t think I’ve ever had a seriously bad or embarrassing race, Penny’s just too good a coach for me to be unprepared.

Do you have a pre-race ritual?

I always redo my laces like 3 times for no reason and seem to jump a lot on the line!

What is the best piece of gear you have bought?

Didn’t buy this piece of gear but something I could never be without when I run is my coach Penny! Penny’s all the gear I need!

Worst piece of gear?

Any kind of Nike trainers and those MP3 arm bands! There just too big.

Why do you run when you could be sat at home watching EastEnders?

So I don’t end up like one of those people on EastEnders!
The fact I love running and love making my Mum, Dad, Family and Penny proud of me when all our work pays off.

What does she/he who must be obeyed think about your running?

That’s my Mum and Dad and they are there for my every need, diet, travel and support. I can always, and always have relied on them! I wouldn’t be the athlete I am today without them.

What is the one piece of advice you would give to any new runner?

I’ve got two;

1) When you’re feeling it burning everyone else is feeling it more!

2) Rest is Training! Listen to your body.

smileand the worldsmiles with you!
