| Can you remember your first race? |
The first race was when I was at the tender age of 8 and my mum had promised to buy me the trend school jumper, if I came in the top 3. She thought I wouldn't beat the guys who were two years old than me! I finished third and I wore my jumper with pride |
| How often do you bother to go training? |
Not enough these days due to family committments and work, so put me down for 3 times a week. |
| What is your favourite training run? |
Time trial, Brownwich loop and the rollers, are all favs due to them being demanding sessions. |
| What was your best ever race? |
Hampshire Road Race League: Bramley 20m in 2004. I set a pb for 10 miles (over 1 minute) and a pb for 20, but it was my first 20-miler. The last few miles were sheer agony. |
| And what was your worst or most embarrassing race? |
London Marathon 2001 - too many unscheduled pitstops say no more!! |
| Do you have a pre-race ritual? |
Pasta or steak and chips the night before with a couple of drinks. On race day, eat a meal 3 hours before a race, followed by 100g of dark chocolate. |

Running tights, too restrictive. |
| Why do you run when you could be sat at home watching EastEnders? |
Can always tape EastEnders!! To keep the beer belly down, stay fit, and use as stress and anger management. |
| What does she/he who must be obeyed think about your running? |
Run too much, especially during the cross-country season. If you can't beat them join and she joined the club to keep fit! |
| What is the one piece of advice you would give to any new runner? |
Set yourself a goal, achieve it and then set yourself another one. Cross-country races are fun, for all abilities and great for stamina-building. |
