Hants XC, Reading
Just 2 Stubbetttes turned out for the club at the Reading Cross Country on Saturday.
Rachael and Sharon battled the mild breeze that whipped across the course and came in 60th and 71st respectively. The race was won by Lucy Elliot representing Winchester and former Stubby Louise James came in 36th.
Along with the women’s race the men’s was also down on numbers but we managed a team which means Stubbington have moved up to 7th in Div 1. The last race of the season at Salisbury will require some of the faster boys to come along to make sure we stay out of the relegation zone. The first runner home was Dan Gueran who came in 44th with rosy cheeks from the slight breeze. Next home was the ever youthful Mike Harper in 80th even after starting slowly for the first half mile. Nick Crane held off John Gueran this week, after last weeks Championships where John pipped Nick on the line, with a 96th position John finished this race in 111th (which was good for adding up the scores), Phil May crossed the line in 126th with a week of training behind him but had nothing in the tank to catch the guy in front. Gordon Westley was 30 seconds behind Phil in 132nd and John Tussler completed the Stubby group with 141st.
Well done to everyone who came along and make a note of the positions for future reference.
