Clarendon 2011
After 13 years of organising the Clarendon Full, Half and Relay Marathon events this email is to let you all know that this year’s event, which was due to take place on 2nd October 2011, has been postponed until next year.
Your support, and that of all previous entrants, means that previous Clarendon events have raised tens of thousands of Pounds for many charities, and I hope they have provided much enjoyment to many. Although it has also given me much pleasure in organising them, I desperately need to take a year off.
I have thought about asking others to take them over but this in itself would take up a significant amount of time and I guess I would still be responsible for ensuring they ran smoothly.
I am sorry if this has come as a bit of a surprise but other things have cropped up in my life to which I need to attend. The good news is that I intend to re-launch the events in 2012. The date will be roughly the same - either the last weekend in September or the first weekend of October – and I hope I can rely on your support.
The past events could not have taken place without the support of many individuals and organisations. I would specifically like to thank the many sponsors, the Rotary Club of Winchester and all the many friends and groups of people who have helped to make what I hope is perceived to have been a successful and enjoyable event.
If you are interested in taking part in the Clarendon 2012 (post Olympics) then there will be a two price entry fee one for entering before the end of 2011 and one for entering in 2012. Details of this will be posted on the Clarendon website and on another email in due course.
I will be grateful to receive any feedback on previous races (paul@clarendon-marathon.co.uk). The 2012 event may depend on it.
Thanks again for your support and interest. Hopefully I will see some of you on the ‘circuit’.
