Bishops Waltham 5, Sunday 5 June
Just two Stubbies, David Eland and myself decided to give the Bishops Waltham 5 a go this year.
Luckily for us conditions were a lot kinder than the 25 degrees + the day before and it was quite cool with light rain coming and going throughout. The route takes you through part of Bishops Waltham and then out towards Swanmore before taking a hard left up quite a steep hill of about a mile. Once you hit the top though it is downhill and then flat through country lanes to the finish.
There was a field of about 95, including a few from local clubs, but mainly the field was made up of unattached runners. There was also a 2 mile fun run which started after the main race.
The race was won by Matthew King in a time of 26.26 and the first lady home was Helen Cartwright 34.42. I had a good run and managed to finish in 29 place with a 5 mile PB of 37.09. David also had a good run and he had a PB with 40.27.
The organisation for this run is very good, and the local Fire station is the race Hq where there were refreshments and other facilities. John Simister
