The Black Death Run
It was the summer wet and warm
in 1348 the storm
which sent the ships to shelter here
In Bristols port 'til weather clear
and then it spread across the west
a deadly uninvited guest.
Old or young it didn't care
Black Death, The Plague, it wasn't fair.
The rich and poor it didn't mind
Dead in days. I think you'll find.
Large lumps and boils or so it's said
Your body black and then your dead.
In Europe tho' 2 million died,
no cure was found although they tried.
Too many lives were lost in vain
So pray it never comes again.
IT COMES!! The Black Death Run - Sunday May 8th 2011 - www.theblackdeathrun.com
If you haven't already entered, entries close 4th May with no entries on the day this year. See you there.
This is a fantastic run for people who like hills, it runs on a private estate on the edge of Exmoor and they plan the route to enjoy maximum hill climbing - I know there are a few keen fell and hill runners in the club. It is a long way to go but there are some good cheap B and Bs nearby. The website gives more of an idea. They posted me the details as I ran it last year. Julia Park
