Winchester 10k

The Chalk Family

On February 21st 2010, “The Chalk Family Runners” competed in the Hampshire Chronicle Winchester 10km Road Race. In age order (not weight) the runners were as follows…… Brian Chalk, Steve Chalk, Matthew Chalk,  Lewis Chalk and Richard Silley.

This race was completed in memory of Janice Chalk, a beloved Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Wife.

Janice always had a smile and a joke for us, she provided great strength and love and now she has given us the inspiration to come together as a family to support a Charity close to all our hearts. Janice would be very proud of this and we hope that you can support us in this family event as we come together to support The MS Trust. Every penny counts as we aim to hit our target!

There was some friendly rivalry between us as we ran the 10k but our main effort is in raising as much money as possible for The MS Trust – we hope that you can support us. http://www.justgiving.com/chalkfamily

In terms of performance all the runners did really well and can feel very proud of their efforts. Leading the family home was Lewis Chalk of Stubbington Green in a time of 34mins 33seconds. This was enough to secure 2nd place in the race, just 3 seconds behind the leader. Had it not have been for Bramley 20 the week before Lewis may have won.....

Second home was Rich in a time of 48.09. Matt was third home and within the hour mark in a time of 58.34. Finally Brian and Steve came in and were not last so this got an extra cheer from the family! Brian completed the hilly course in 1hour and 4mins and Steve finished in 1hour and 9mins.

Other Stubby runners who completed the race included John Williams in 42.52 and Chris Douglas in 51.55. We may have missed other Stubby times so please email them in!

Remember if you want to support the Chalk Family in raising money for The MS Trust you can do so at http://www.justgiving.com/chalkfamily.

Perhaps the family is now hooked? We are now considering the Ropley 10k and The New Forest 10 and perhaps on the day the Reading Half......see you there!

Many thanks,

The Chalk Family
