VICTORY 5 MILE ROAD RACE at PORTSMOUTH on 19/09/10 – Penny Forse
Kenyans & Ethiopians took the first two positions in the men’s & women’s fields.
On the domestic scene, for the ladies who ran the hilly 5 milers at Purbrook & Overton & wanted to improve on their times, a strong wind against us all in the final 2 miles made it quite a challenge even on this flat course. Despite that, most were happy to shave a few seconds off while Donna, Andrea and Sarah decided to hack minutes off!
Well done to Susie for leading us in and being first scorer in our 2nd placed Vets team. Graham, Andy and the ‘improving-with-every-race’ Kev all ran brilliantly to duck under the half-hour and were it not for the wind Mike would have ducked under it too. It was, again, a brilliant turnout for the club. Well done to all!
In the Junior 2km Fun Run Oli ran extremely well for 2nd place in the Boys’ race while Hannah and Elizabeth were well to the fore in the Girls’ race. Well done!
