Stubbington Green Runners & AC

2010 RR10 SUMMER SERIES REPORT

RR10

When the first of this years RR10 fixtures takes place two months hence starting at 7pm on 21st April at Royal Victoria Country Park, the long cold and wet winter should be a distant memory.

As usual the event will be hosted and organised by what will be the new Southampton Club Team who will be running in Team Southampton club strip (red and white vertical stripes, which should help to keep our chairman’s blood pressure up!)

The  RR10 AGM took place earlier this month and I’ll briefly touch a  few relevant items that were covered.

A new club will be included this season, namely Team Holdsworth, they will be allocated twenty places for each event (like we were three years ago) and will assist in the organisation of the Deerleap event with Southampton Running Sisters on June 2nd.

Each member club will contribute a £20 annual membership fee. Parking will continue to be a difficult issue at most events so can we please ‘car share’ as much as possible, it is appreciated that is not always possible, but do try your best.

On a personal note, unfortunately my long lasting abdominal strain is still preventing me from running, a similar injury to John O’Shea, a Southampton Runner kept him out for eighteen months!

If I cannot compete this year I have committed to attend as many events as I can to support and record results which I’ll submit to Alan Tulip for the league tables.  Several club members assisted me last year by recording results in my absence,  particularly Graham Bell who will now have his hands full with his new role as HRRL Captain. So if anyone can assist me this year I’d be grateful.

I’ll undertake to organise our event at Manor Farm again this year, but I’d be delighted to hear from anyone who’d be willing to get involved for the future. Thanks again in anticipation of your support at our event on 23rd June, we’ll hold a marshal’s and helper’s evening the preceding Wednesday 16th June, so please try to slot those dates into your programme.

And finally in spite of the rising price of beer and cheesy chips, lets try to maintain the healthy attendances at  post race social de-briefs!  See you all soon I hope….
