Stubbington Green Runners

Lordshill 10

Dave Jeffery & Susie MacGregor

Lordshill 10 was the venue for the 4th HRRL race of the season, and 29 Stubbies made their way west on another bright and fresh day Autumn day. There were some great performances, and it looked like everyone enjoyed the reasonably flat well marshalled course.

After a “bad” run at Solent it was good to see Dave Jeffery record a PB over 10 miles as he led the A team home in just a shade over the hour. Mr consistent pace himself, Tony Smith, once again timed his run to perfection to over take me in the last 2 miles. The difference for me this time was that after a couple of long runs, (thanks Chris) I felt much stronger than I did 4 weeks previously, and finished only just outside my PB time. Kevin Wheeler was 4th man home, although slightly down on his GSR time, possibly due to carrying a couple of niggly injuries, and being kicked in the leg at the start. Anyone want to own up?

It was down to Andy Simpson to assume a new position, leading home the B team. As per usual Andy led the race for the first 100 yards, before being passed by about 45 runners. Joining Andy in the B team was the fast finishing Mike Harper, and Ray returning to form. Sandwiched in between these two Stubby stalwarts was Mark U, recording an excellent time of 63.50.

The C team was lead home by the reliable Jon. Just behind him was an epic Stubby battle as the in from Phil took on the trimmed down Neil. With only a few seconds separating them it looks like there are some battles to come from those two. Both look to be benefitting from an increase in mileage, and Tuesday night speed sessions, it really does work. Colin completed the C team in a time just outside 7mins /mile.

Nick Kimber chose to run Lordshill over the NYCM this year, a far more prestigious event. Nigel, David, Paul and Rick completed the Stubbington Green men’s contingent, all in good order, well done guys you all looked good to me at the finish.

Susie led home the ladies team achieving a 2 minute pb over 10 miles, closely followed by Emily, making her road running debut for the club. Completing the ladies A team was Sally, again another pb, who just pipped Kate also making here HRRL debut. With Annie and Donna (a 12 min pb??) both having excellent runs the B team finished strongly on the day in 4th place. Lucy, Jane (5th V55) and the also improving Andrea completed the C team to maintain their position at the head of Ladies B Div 2. Sarah, as usual, looked pleased with her run, and so should Kathryn and Sara, both making their HRRL debuts for season.

Overall after 4 Races this season, all Stubbington teams are all competing well within their respective leagues, and this reflects on the excellent turnouts and good individual achievements.
