French National Half Marathon Champs: (senior men qualifying time 1:15:00)

Peter FairhurstLocation: Saint Pol to Morlaix, Brittany, France, date 31st October 2010

This was the third time in the last 10 years that St. Pol – Morlaix has held the national half marathon championships.  The organization is well oiled, efficient and friendly.  On the Sunday with the various races held there were 9000 participants and 50 000 spectators on the course which guaranteed an excellent atmosphere.  The race route is challenging, pleasant and point to point.  To put into perspective there are several false flats up and down plus two big hills one a bit like Fishers hill Titchfield and the other similar to running up 9 Elms lane to the very top of Portsdown Hill.  You then end with 4 flat kms along a river and finish under a magnificent viaduct!  A real “monument” in the French road-racing calendar. Peter Fairhurst.

Winner 1:04:16 Lic Letellier (former national champion 5000 & 10, 000m),

Stubby Peter Fairhurst 131st 1:16:11.

(PS. If you run the qualifying time earlier in the year and are a member of the FFA any nationality can run in the national championships albeit with an ETR bib for a foreigner.)
