Cross Country

The time has come for the Cross Country League season to begin.

The first Hampshire league race is on 9th October at Farley Mount near Winchester.  It promises to be a good season both for the men and the ladies as we strive to maintain our good form from the RR10 series.

The men will be looking to stay in Div 1 this season with the big guns out for the races, hopefully. Our main rivals will be Basingstoke, Reading and Poole. If all goes well we could finish mid table and as a fairly big club we should be looking to achieve this. The vet men are still in div 2 and finished 8th last season.

The ladies will be hoping to improve on the 7th place they finished last season and with more ladies running well this year, Penny will have some help in achieving this. There are only 3 ladies to count in the women’s races so I’ll be ringing around the week before for willing athletes.

There is only one race per month on the Saturday afternoon and there will be plenty of team members around to give support and look after the kids and the dogs!

If it does rain then I will bring a couple of tents to get changed in!!

This race is free to enter, just wear a Stubby vest.  With the Solent half on the Sunday this race will fill in your weekend running if you don’t fancy 13 miles.

Anyone requiring a lift, just let me know and I’ll arrange runners near to you to pick you up or do so myself.

The Todays Runner league starts on the 31st October at Pamber Forest near Basingstoke. These races are similar to the RR10 where both men and women go off at the same time and the course is a one lap course.  All races start at 1100 am, good for your Sunday morning run. Phil May.
