Stubbington Green Runners

Bishops Waltham 5

Jon Leigh

After the heroics of the Stubbington South Downs relay teams it was time for a more sedate affair the following day.

The Bishops Waltham 5 mile is a race organised by the local rotary club. The course is dead flat - except for the mile long drag of Hampton Hill out of Swanmore and the steep descent down from Dundridge, sedate - apart from the two runners who seemingly nearly came to blows just after the first corner and mostly traffic free.

The day was fine for running with a cooling breeze. 130 runners tackled the course with five stubbies amongst them.

The race was won by Julian Manning of Denmead Striders, 27:35
First lady was Lorna Russell, 30:04
