Bev Lavery
Bev Lavery
Born 4 Aug 1964
Twin sister to Lee Cantle
And elder sister to Gary
Beverley started her running career with Fareham AC where she ran with her brothers and was coached by her mother Beryl. Then she moved to Portsmouth Atalanta when the two clubs merged in the 80’s. After a brief spell in the Army she returned to run for Stubbington Green in the mid 90’s.
Her desire to run on the track took her to Havant and running the country for Stubbington but finally settling for Havant for both disciplines.
Her 2008 season on the track saw her ranked 15th in the country for vets 40 in 800m and 3000m and 16th in the 1500m. In the 5000m she managed 11th in her class.
With her husband Malcolm she would be regularly seen on the cross country circuit and road races. It was while training for the London Marathon that she had her accident.
She will be sorely missed from the athletics world and the achievements she has made.
Our thoughts go out to Malcolm and family at this sad time and to her mother Beryl, Lee and Gary.
Bev's funeral is at 2.30pm on 21 April at Portchester Crematorium.
