Stubbington Green Runners & AC

Today's Runner, Pamber Forest

Susie MacGregor & Andy Simpson

A good number of Green Vests were hardy enough to turn up in atrocious weather for the second Todays Runner event held at Pamber Forest near Tadley on Sunday. The event was hosted by Basingstoke and Mid Hants AC with 14 men and 8 ladies representing the club and with all the rain recently the course proved to be extremely muddy which sapped the strength from runner's legs.

Fortunately the rain held off for the duration of the race but the conditions did not deter the intrepid Andy Simpson who just managed to hold off a runner from Havant up the finishing hill to win the race overall.

Second Stubbie home was Dave, making his first run in the series, who did well to make a top 10 finish with Mike W not far behind in 14th. There was then a gap before Tony just edged out Tim for the fourth and fifth scoring places which gave us 90 points and 4th place in the men's section. Apart from Andy others to improve their positions from QE Park were Nick C, Mike B, Phil, Mike C and Andy L while Tim, John L, Nick K, John B, and Andy T were also having their first runs of the series.

In the ladies section Susie improved her place at QE Park by one to lead the team home followed by Penny who also improved her position and the third scorer was Tina in her first run of the series. Lucy, Jaz, Ann and Nikki also had improved positions while Margie was another to have her first run out. The accumulation of 40 points put the ladies in 3rd place with the club finishing third overall on the day behind Farnham and Basingstoke.

The next round is at Bourne Woods, Farnham on the 13th December - details to follow.
