Bournemouth Aquathon
It was a gorgeous summer evening for the Bournemouth Aquathon on 24th June. I competed in the Short distance event, which consisted of a 300m sea swim and supposed to be a 3km run. However we all thought it was longer as the longer distance race we're supposed to be running 6km and they only did 1 extra lap!
It was a mass start from the beach meaning things at the start were a bit rough and hectic. I was 5th out of the swim in a time of 8:47 (including transition) and then on to the two lap run up the hill past the BIC and then back along the promenade, with a tough finishing straight on the sandy beach! I completed the race in an overall time of 34:50, 3 minutes behind the first man. I was 10th overall out of 38 and 1st lady. Lucy May.
Lucy is also competing in the Fareham Tri on Sunday 28th - hope she does well in that - and also to the other Stubbies entered. Phil May.
