Awards Night 2009

Gary Littlecott & Phil May

I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s awards evening so successful and so much fun.

All the social committee who put in many hours to make sure everything went off on the night without a hitch.

Our very own Little and Large double act (Gary Littlecott and Phil May) made a great job of the presentation of the awards and a few jokes thrown in for good measure.

Mike Bell put in an awful lot of his own time to make a spoof film involving a few members of the running club, very funny and is on our website for all to see.

The food was laid on by Rita Leigh and seemed to go down well with everyone, thank you Rita and all your helpers.

This was all followed by plenty of dancing and well earned merriment and to finish off the evening it was around the corner to the Wheatsheaf for a nightcap, although I appear to have missed this part of the evening.

The purpose of the evening was primarily to award those in the club who have excelled over the past twelve months. Believe me there was not a lot to choose between many of the runners as there have been many outstanding contributions. Report by Chris Hall.

The Lifetime Achievement Award
This year goes to a duo, they are the very footings of this great club, not as active running now as they have both been, as they have been laid up by illness, but this has not stopped them helping others in the club, as they will help without question or hesitation.
With both of them well into long distance running he achieved sub 3hr marathons.
They produced edited & distributed the Green Runner for many years, also a very good Chief Marshal in our 10k & at the forefront of organisation.
She once made a telly appearance at a cross country championships & was heard thoughout saying “mind the rock”.
She now organises our junior fun run at the 10k & enjoys seeing young people succeed.
This Year’s Lifetime achievement award goes to Pat & Dennis Woodward
