West Wight 3 Hills
NICK Crane likes his trips across to the Isle of Wight, more often than not taking the royal yacht across the Solent for a brief run-out.
On Easter Monday, Nick joined 93 runners for the West Wight 3 Hills Race organised by Ryde Harriers.
The eight-mile race was based at the West Wight Swimming Pool at Freshwater, which consisted of an undulating course, including around 900 feet of ascent taking in Golden Hill Fort, Freshwater, Headon Warren, Alum Bay, Highdown, Tennyson Down, Freshwater Bay and back to the finsh at Freshwater.
Pete Stainer from Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers won the race in a time of 49min 18sec, with the familiar face of Ryde's Ulla Korenjak leading the women's field home in 21st overall with 56.01.
Nick placed 40th in a time of 1hr 4min 58sec and sixth Vet50.
