Wessex League Cross Country
IT was cold and bitter as the Wessex Cross Country League opened its campaign in Bournemouth at the weekend.
With the Today's Runner event at Hart cancelled, several Stubbies took the opportunity for a wintry run-out in Dorset.
The women's team finished third on the day thanks to some superb packing by our three Stubbettes who finished in the top 20. Margie Pritchard showed how her form continues to improve with a superb 11th place in 20min 35sec, followed by Lucy May in 13th who clocked 21.59 with Geraldine May claiming 16th spot in 28.28. Winchester & District AC won the ladies event, followed by Wimborne, with Stubbington third.
The men's team placed eighth, led home by 20th placed Nick Crane in 35.43. The four Stubbington runners were closely packed, finishing just five minutes apart. Nick clocked 35.43, followed by Phil May in 26th with 37.08. Neil Jarvis was 35th in 39.47 followed by 36th placed Gordon Westley in 40.18.
