WITH almost two months of the year already past, Toby Lambert's astonishing victory at the Stubbington 10km remains the fastest run over that distance by a British runner this year.

In the latest rankings, the Winchester's time of 30min 29sec last month, is 12 seconds ahead of the next fastest 10km time for 2008, set by Richard Hobby who runs for the French club Courir Pay De Grasse, and which was set in Nice last month.

Keith Gerrard from Newham & Essex Beagles, who placed second behind Toby at Stubbington with a time of 30.57, lies fourth in the British 10km rankings for 2008.

Winchester's Karen Hazlitt, who won the Stubbington 10km in 35.50, currently holds the fourth fastest 10km time of the year.

In the 10 mile rankings, Stubbington's Zippy Grice holds 53rd place with his 57.18 at the Ryde 10 earlier this month where he placed seventh. Toby Lambert, who won the Isle of Wight event in 50.45, holds the third fastest 10 mile time of the year behind Ben Noad (Highgate) who ran 49.58 at Sidcup also this month.
