Tring2Town 40-mile Ultra Marathon

Aaron Kingston

IT'S not often that a race is diverted because police found a body along the route, but that was the case for the Tring2Town 40-mile Ultra marathon in Hertfordshire.

Stubby Aaron Kingston was among those who took part in the race which follows the Grand Union canal from Tring to Brentford in Middlesex.

He finished 88th out of 113 runners in a time of 8hrs 35mins. The winner was Jez Bragg, who finished the course in a time of 4hrs 27mins, despite running the course in the opposite direction the day before in the same time.

Aaron explained: "The course was flat, if muddy in places. We had to be diverted off the course near the end because the police found a body in the canal.

"I managed to injure my knee after mile 23, and had to hobble the remaining 17. I think I'll be laying off the training for a while now!"
