Totton 10k
THE Totton 10k looks likely to replace the cancelled Bramley 20 road race as the counter for the Hampshire Road Race League.
Next month's popular 20-mile race in North Hampshire has been cancelled because of road works around the village of Bramley. That has prompted a rapid rethink from organisers who canvassed clubs for alternative events to count towards the 10-race league.
Among those proposed were the Meon Valley Plod, the Salisbury 10, the Hook 10 and the Wokingham Half. However, it was the Totton 10k on Sunday, April 6th which carried the day in a vote among HRRL clubs and the decision is expected to be formally ratified at a meeting on January 14th.
Our own Stubbington Green 10k forms the next round of the HRRL on Saturday, January 13th. A reminder from the race director, Gary Littlecott, that the marshals' meeting will take place on Thursday, January 10th at the Locks Heath Sports and Social Club in Warsash Road, Titchfield Common at 8pm. It is vital that everyone who is helping out attends to receive instructions about the day.
It is still not too late to pitch in with help, or to persuade friends, neighbours, relatives, the postman etc to weigh in with assistance on the day. Contact Gazza at thelittlecotts@ntlworld.com if you or anyone else who owes you a favour has a couple of hours free on Sunday morning on January 13th.
