The Stickler

Alasdair EwingALASDAIR Ewing chose to avoid the city mayhem of the Great South Run and instead enjoy some of the Dorset countryside.

The race was the popular Stickler, organised by Dorset Doddlers; a three peaks challenge which was this year celebrating its 12th anniversary.

Alasdair finished 37th in a time of 1hr 16min 00sec. The race was won by Andy Blow from the Votwo club in 1:01.52 with 51st placed Dawn Broom from Bournemouth AC the top lady in 1:18.25.

A total of 393 runners took part in the race, which is based at Shillingstone, near Blandford Forum. The race features 1,500ft of climbing, including the infamous Stickle Path, less than a mile from the start, with 500 feet of a one in three climb.

This year it was raining and muddy, which made the event even more challenging.
