The Hards!

THE running bug seems to be sweeping the entire Hards family inspired by Barry and Bev Hards.

They have been busy competing in races in recent weeks, with Bev finishing second in the ladies' race at the Sherborne Castle 10km in Dorset. This was a multi-terrain run with Bev clocking a time of 42min 59sec to win the female vet 45 age category.

A total of 178 runners took part in a race won by James Brown from the Metropolitan Police Running Club who was feeling good after his victory in a time of 35.06. Elizabeth Hutson won the ladies race ahead of Bev in a time of 42.08. 

At the beautiful Dorset village, the Hards' children took part in the 2km fun run with Ella-May coming 29th overall and was the 11th female in 8min 43sec, while Kim was 41st in a time of 13.46.

More recently, it was the turn of Barry to get on his racing shoes as he tackled the Lewes 10km multi-terrain race. He finished 12th in the Easter race with a time of 39min 48sec in a race won by Robbie James from Lewes AC in 33.52. Gill Wheeler from Hailsham Harriers was the first lady home in 41.15 for 22nd place overall. A total of 546 runners took part in the race which was based at Lewes Leisure Centre in East Sussex.

There in the 800m fun run Ella-May finished ninth overall and was the third female. Kim ran the whole course without stopping, and according to mum Bev, she was definitely not last!!
