Stubbington 10km
THE countdown is on for the Stubbington 10km road race in January.
Already the January 18th race, which forms part of the Hampshire Road Race League, is full with 1,600 entries accepted, but for many runners they will not have run the new course which this year takes in Titchfield and Hill Head.
Here, Mike Bell, who cut his teeth watching Mary, Mungo & Midge on BBC's Watch With Mother, makes his long-awaited directorial debut for a short film of the new course.
The tumultuous 11-minute epic features potential Oscar-winning performances from Gary Littlecott and Phil May, the Ant & Dec of Stubbington Green Runners, with Geraldine May providing the love interest, and Margie Pritchard adding some much-needed glamour.
No animals or children were hurt in the production of the film which also includes rare footage of the lesser-spotted Littlecott actually running. For those of a nervous disposition, the sight of Gazza in a tight-fitting Stubby top may prove disturbing. Think green jelly!
The film has been dubbed in traditional Portsmouthese to aid those who are hard of hearing. The featurette is worryingly described as a comedy and carries a AAA battery rating by the British Board of Ice Cream Producers. Enjoy!
