Stansted Slug

JOHN Simister was the first Stubby home when he took part in the Portsmouth Joggers’ organised Stansted Slug.

Based at Stansted House near Rowlands Castle, the Slug consisted of an eight mile saunter around Stansted Forest; a scenic route without too many undulations.

John took 25th place from a field of 85 runners on a beautiful day for racing with a time of 1hr 21min 18sec.

Julia Park in 43rd was the first Stubbette with 1:29.56 and 17th lady.

Robert Spencer followed in 61st in 1:32.20, with Karen Dean little more than a minute behind in 1:33.26 for 72nd place. Anne Fairhurst completed the green contingent in 84th position with a time of 1:43.35.

The race was won by Phil Guest from Portsmouth Joggers Club in 52min 57sec, and the leading lady was Lorraine Treadwell in sixth place. The Worthing & District Harrier recorded a time of 1:08.34.
