Shakespeare Marathon

DARRELL Milner was left hanging on for the final five miles of his debut marathon.

Darrell chose the Rotary Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford-upon-Avon as his first foray over 26 miles, and chose a day when the sun really did have its hat on.

"It was a very warm day, which didn't help, but was great for the spectators," said Darrell. "I was doing great up until 21 miles, running at a 7:20 pace, but then I hit the infamous wall and dragged my way round the last five miles."

He finished 125th overall in a time of 3hrs 26min 48sec as the race was won by Shaun Milford from Newquay Roadrunners in Cornwall in a time of 2:37.19. The first lady home was Angie Sadler from Tewkesbury AC who was 50th overall in 3:12.55.
