Salisbury 10

THERE really is no stopping Stubby Darrell Milner. A week ago the guy knocked a good nine minutes off his personal best for the half marathon, and this past weekend he was in scorching form in Salisbury.

Darrell joined a classy field for the City of Salisbury 10-mile road race, which was organised by City of Salisbury AC.

Winchester & District AC's Toby Lambert won the race in a time of 51min 16sec, which equated to 5min 8sec for every mile, followed by Southampton Running Club's Andy Morgan Lee who clocked 53.36.

Darrell placed 25th in 1hr 4min 23sec, which was a personal best improvement by seven minutes!

"It was quite a hilly course (described as undulating on the entry form) following the River Avon north out of the city through some little villages," he said.  "Not that I was taking much notice of the little thatched cottages and the rural setting while getting my breath back after another 'undulation' in the road!"

Fellow Stubby Jon Henderson had a good run in the Wiltshire countryside coming home in 167th place in 1:34.28.

Kathy Harvey from City of Salisbury AC won the women's race in a time of 1:05.22 for 29th place overall, which was running at just over six-and-a-half minute mile pace. A total of 275 runners took part.
