Saintly 5km

Jenny Hearnden

FOR some it is the theatre of dreams, to others it is the stadium of screams; but St Mary's Stadium, the home of Southampton Football Club, played host to the first Saintly 5km road race.

The race, in aid of the Wessex Cancer Trust, took in a circular route which started and finished at the stadium in Britannia Road.

Claire and Jenny Hearnden took part finishing in 30min 59 sec.

"Assuming they organise this event next year it would be nice to ‘promote’ it as the race is for Wessex Cancer Trust," said Jenny.

"Although Claire wasn’t well we still enjoyed it and ran all the way, nice to wear a number again!!

"I expect you have realised where the event took place and to run into OUR stadium for the finish was GREAT! "

As a reminder, don't forget to have Tuesday, May 13th pencilled in when Jenny is organising the traditional MacMillan Mile at Crofton School in Stubbington. The charity event takes place on the school fields between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

Stubbies and their friends are encouraged to run or walk a mile around the field. It doesn't matter how fast or how slow you complete the distance, just make the mile and then make a donation afterwards. If you are able to collect some sponsorship for your efforts, you will be Jenny's best friend!
