Ryde 10
ARE you looking for a ticket to Ryde? Then be aware that this weekend, with the Ryde 10 mile road race taking place on Sunday, February 3rd, Wightlink are making available a two-for-one foot passenger offer. The Ryde 10 forms the latest round of the Hampshire Road Race League.
The deal covers Wightlink services from Lymington to Yarmouth and, more importantly for Stubby runners, with FastCat service from Portsmouth to Ryde where one passenger travels for free.
You don't need to book in advance of pick up a coupon, just buy your tickets from the ticket office on the day of travel. There are no travel restrictions on weekend crossings.
The cost of a day return adult fare from Portsmouth to Ryde is £13.52, so if you travel on your own from Pompey it will cost you £13.52. However, if you can buddy-up with a team-mate for the race, it will cost you £6.76 - and remember for Stubbington members, the club committee is once again helping to subsidise the trip to the Isle of Wight for the race. So you will be quids in!
The crossing takes about 18 minutes, and there is a 15-minute brisk walk along Ryde Pier and the Esplanade to Ryde Rowing Club for the race start.
FastCat times from Portsmouth are quarter past the hour, starting at 6.15am. Most runners will go for the 9.15am sailing, though anyone planning to enter on the day should go for the 8.15am crossing.
Please note that the 8.45, 9.45, 10.45, 11.45, 12:45 and 13.45 sailings do not run this time of the year according to the Wightlink timetable.
