RR10

SUMMER is here.....yep, the tell-tale signs of yet another scorching hot summer complete with hosepipe ban and England's meek surrender in the latest Test series are there to be seen....the appalling April weather, Saints' relegation fight, talk about who is going to be on the next series of Big Brother - and the start of the RR10 series!

That's right, the first RR10 cross country race of the summer is just around the corner. It takes place this Wednesday, April 23rd at the Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley, starting at 7pm.

Those who have run before will know the form, newcomers to Stubbington Green are very welcome to turn up and run in a race which costs absolutely nothing to enter.

The course will consist of three laps around the park on the edge of Southampton Water, a mixture of parkland and woodland. It's not too tough a course, which stretches to around 4.5 miles.

No times are taken, just your position. It is a very informal gathering, and a fun series of races to run against other Hampshire clubs. The standard is extremely varied from the speed merchants at the front to 11 minute milers at the back.

Royal Victoria Country Park is just off junction eight and signposted. Be warned that it can be congested from the Tesco roundabout all the way to Netley, so do leave plenty of time. You should be parked up by 6.45pm at the latest.

You must wear a Stubbington Green vest - and it's been good to see a number of new members have been in touch with kit lady Liz Hall in the past week wanting to buy one of the famous green vests. There is no limit to the number of runners we can field in the race, so please turn up - the more the merrier.
You'll see a gaggle of us congregating in the main field near the old hospital.

Interested? Well if you are looking for a first race, then this is the one to try. To the regulars, I hope to see as many of you there.
