Quantiles Bracknell Half Marathon
LUCY Simmons continued her excellent season so far with a fifth-place finish at the Quantiles Bracknell Half Marathon.
Following swiftly after a fine second place finish at the RR10 days earlier, the running doctor produced a superb time of 1hr 35min 35sec for 87th place overall. It was a personal best for Lucy who was the fifth lady finisher and was third in her age category.
“The race was good in that it was really well organised,” said Lucy. “The course was reasonably flat with lots of marshals and water stations, plus plenty of car parking.
“There were jelly babies in the finishers’ packs as well as a medal and a t-shirt.
“It was not really an interesting course to run since it was entirely urban. A thunderstorm in the last three miles livened things up, though.
“I would do it again if I wanted to run a race to get a good time.”
Also running through the Berkshire rain was fellow Stubby Charlotte Byng who completed the course in a time of 2:31.57 for 757th place.
The race was won by Paul Adams from St Albans Striders in a time of 1:13.49 with seventh-placed Sarah Gee the leading lady in 1:22.21. A total of 790 runners took part.
