Pub to Pub Race
DID you run the pub to pub race at Horndean just after Christmas? There was a good turn-out of Stubbies for the December 27th race from the Ship & Bell in Horndean to the Red Lion in Chalton.
The race was organised by Portsmouth Joggers to raise money for the New Portsmouth Hospital's Rocky Appeal. In 2006, this popular post-Christmas blow-out raised £1,600 towards the appeal. This year's Rocky Appeal is in aid of a £3million new state-of-the-art digital keyhole operating theatre at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.
Chichester Runners' James Baker won the seven-mile race just ahead of our own Mark Le Gassick, who was closing in on the West Sussex speedster near the end. Winchester & District AC's Kath Bailey won the ladies' race.
Sadly, official race results have still not appeared, so could any Stubby who ran the pub to pub please contact Dave King with their race time (if they still have it) - or number of days it took to complete the course, in the case of a few backmarkers! Dave will then put together a list for February's Green Runner.
Nick Crane's time was 54 mins 33 secs (not sure of position).
You can e-mail Dave at: peekay63@aol.com If you don't have an exact time, a rough time will do.
