TIM Crumpton and Jon Leigh led the Stubbington charge at the Midhurst 10k at the weekend.

The usual heatwave for this West Sussex race held off as Winchester's Toby Lambert finished ahead of Chichester's James Baker to win the race in a time of 31min 43sec to James' 32.34.

Tim was the first Stubby home in 42nd place with 40.36 and second in the Vet 50 category, while Jon was not far behind in 53rd place with 41.55 and fifth in the Vet 45 age group.

Colin Elderfield enjoyed a rare race run out in 96th with 44.46, followed by Derek Balsdon in 172nd and a time of 49.40 (Vet 60, 13th). Robert Spencer was 291st in 1hr 3min 45sec for 32nd place among the Vet 50s. Stubbington's men's team placed ninth overall.

The women's race was won by Emily Alden from Midhurst Milers in 36.37 as 445 tunners took part.
