Stubbington Green Runners

An Unusual Picture of a Stubby

Mickey Breed

NEWS reaches the SGR website where the famous Stubbington Green vest is now being used by the British military in the latest weapon against the Taliban.

Super-fast, super-fit Mickey Breed has been sent out to Kabul on a special mission to deal with the delicate situation in the war-torn country.

Apparently the Stubby vest, particularly the unwashed version with the off-green colour, is known to tricker sensitivities in this part of the world.

Just as children can hear certain noises at a decibel pitch which adults cannot sense, so the same can be said with the visual effect the green vest has on certain section of the local Afghan tribesman. So Mickey is our last throw of the dice out in the region.

"I'm currently working in Kabul, Afghanistan so thought this picture would be one of the more unusual pictures of Stubbington runners wearing their vests," writes Mickey.

"I'm still running as much as I can, however not as much as I would like. I came out here two weeks after the Gosport half (which I did run for Stubbington).

"It's 1800 metres above sea level here, so I intend to make use of the altitude during the last eight weeks of my tour so I'm in great shape for the latter half of the track season.

"Can't wait to get back to England and running on anything other than a running machine or in boots and combats with hundreds of Afghan soldiers!"
