Marlborough Downs Challenge
GRAHAM James and Glen Street took on and succeeded in the gruelling 33-mile Marlborough Downs Challenge.
Run alongside the shorter 20-mile race, the two Stubbies enjoyed gorgeous weather for the long trek.
For Glen, this was his first race after a successful outing at the Paris Marathon in April. Despite suffering with stomach pains after 22 miles, Glen managed to run/walk his way for the final third of the race to cross the line in a time of 6hrs 11mins 17sec.
He wasn’t that tired because later that evening, Glen joined Caroline for a barn dance organised by Hardley Runners.
For Graham, this was his first run of more than 10 miles in the past two months. At half way, he went through in a time of 2hrs 20mins and was in the top 10. But the Stubby dropped off the pace to finish in 38th place in a time of 5hrs 30mins.
