Inca Trail 7 mile Cross Country

Paul Hammond, Richard & Julie Simms

Go west young man; well the not so young Paul Hammond and Richard Simms - accompanied by Julie Simms -  headed west into Somerset on Sunday to run in the Inca Trail 7 mile cross country at Ilchester.

Organised by Yeovil Town Road Runners, the race was mostly run across heavily rutted and potholed tracks which made for some careful foot placements, there was one big hill just after half way with a cheery marshal atop with a tin of jelly babies, 11 gates and 14 stiles.

The weather was perfect for running, clear blue skies. no wind and cool but not cold. Paul was 14th home in 59:51 closely followed by Richard in 15th in 1:00:08, fellow Stubbie Jon Henderson was 72nd in 1:22:49.

The first man home was Paul Levick from Yeovil Town RRC in 50:08 and the first lady was Alison Ramsey from Hogweed Trotters in 1:03:08. There were 89 runners.
