Stubbington Green Runners & AC

The Grizzly and Cub Run, Seaton, Devon - Sunday 9th March

The Grizzly 2007A number of Stubbies ventured to Devon at the week-end to take on the Grizzly and Cub run, organised by Axe Valley Runners.

The Grizzly starts at Seaton and takes in shingle beach, ice cold water, sticky muddy bogs and cliff path climbs.  It is around 19'ish miles and has a smaller run (the Cub) which is around 9'ish miles.

In the Grizzly, John Gueren finished in 3:28:10 for 407th place. Neil Jarvis  finished in 4:23:25 for 1035th, after saying he would never do anything as daft as that again when he finished last year!  Graham Watts finished in 5:06:29 for 1291st and there were 1379 finishers.

First man home was Lee Turner of Torbay AAC in 2:24:34 and first woman was a certain D. McEwen from Bedford Harriers in 2:45:49.  Closer inspection of the results revealed that, no it wasn't Di moonlighting, but Donna.

In fact Di was having a great time in the Cub run where 4 Stubbington ladies packed well (probably so they could chat all the way round!).  Caroline Street and Kathy McKain finished in 2:44:48 for 230th and 231st.

Di McEwen and Jacqui Dyer finished in 2:52:02 for 234th and 235th.  The first man home in the Cub run was David Tomlin from Teignbridge Trotters n 1:07:28 and the first lasy was Alicia Leal from North Devon Road Runners in 1:24:25.  A total of 241 runners took part n the shorter race.
