Gordon Reid
IF you've wondered what's happened to the wee Scot, Gordon Reid, then the truth can now be revealed - he has got engaged!
Gordon decided to propose to girlfriend Sarah Hilley on Christmas Eve as they were climbing Muckish Mountain in County Donegal, Northern Ireland.
Here Sarah takes up the story: "It is a flat-topped mountain - with loads of space at the top. As we set off I attempted to get my water-proofs from our ruck sack in the boot. Gordon strangely snapped at me to leave it alone and not pull everything out.
"I fleetingly thought with amusement that he is becoming a little pedantic and waited as he took out the trousers and handed them to me.
"On the way up, the sun brightened, but it was quite steep. On arrival, we walked around to take in the views from all angles. I'd settled myself on a big stone and suddenly Gordon appeared on his knee. Before he got out the sentence I said yes.
"He gave me a little token ring he had saved for two years (it is baked in Irish halloweeen cakes and is traditional).
"The mystery of the bag was solved when he pulled out a bottle of champagne. He also had plastic champagne glasses - typical - he is so into having every possible camping/hiking equipment imaginable."
