Flying Doctor
THE Flying Doctor, Richard Thomas, finished 36th out of 381 competitors for the Beaulieu Middle Distance triathlon earlier this month.
The half ironman event consisted of a 1300m swim, a 54 mile cycle ride and then a 14-mile run to finish.
Richard completed the event in a time of 4hrs 34mins 33sec, which placed him 36th overall and 11th in the 40-44 age group. His splits were 23min 3sec for the swim, 2hrs 30min for the cycle ride and 1hr 40min for the run.
"I was pleased with the time," added Richard. "My previous half ironman and middle distance triathlons have been around 5hrs 12mins and 5hrs 35mins. But this was a much easier course and the slight differences in the length of all three disciplines make it difficult to compare."
