Epsom Oddballs Perch IX
THERE was something fishy going on in Epsom at the weekend, and Neil Jarvis was the man to find out.
The Epsom Oddballs Perch IX is a 6.25 mile multi terrain race over the famous Epsom Downs. It is a scenic, but challenging race starting and finishing from the wonderfully named 'The Rubbing House' on Epsom Downs.
"The race is organised by the Epsom Oddballs Running Club," explained Neil.
"It was called the 2000 Perch. A slightly weird name, but a Perch is an old land measurement of 5.5 yards. They run 2000 perch which equals 6.25 miles or 10.05 km. The race was quite hilly and run over a mixture of hard tracks, tarmac, woodland path, grass and sand."
Neil placed 125th in a time of 46min 40sec, as the race was won by Vincent Van Woerkom from Epsom Oddballs in 36.44. The first lady home was Finnish runner Mira Salmi from Suuntolume who was 35th in 41.43
