FIFTY one races to choose from in the month of September.
Those are the rich pickings from the latest race diary which has swept Hampshire and all the counties bordering the south coast for are bountiful feast of events to take part in.
With the cross country season just around the corner, it is mainly road races and multi-terrain events which dominate, including the start of the Hampshire Road Race League season with the Overton 5 on September 6th.
Another popular event is the New Forest Marathon and Half Marathon on September 21st. The full signs have already gone up for the 26-miler and you'll need to be quick to get a place in the half with entries normally closed in late July/early August.
There is a weekend of fell racing on the Isle of Wight around the same time as the New Forest double-header, and this month's diary has also picked out a few south coast triathlons, for those mad enough and with the energy to swim, bike and run!
One race missing is the Butser Hill Run which usually takes place at the end of September. No date has been fixed for that yet, but watch this space on the website.
