Denmead 10km

The Zipmeister

THE Denmead 10km is packed with plenty of ascents and descents, and these were conditions which suited Zippy Grice to a tee.

The Zipmeister ran out a 19 second winner in the Fullers sponsored race, clocking 34min 41sec.

Running at an average speed of 3min 28sec per kilometre, Zippy finished ahead of Denmead Striders’ Julian Manning, with Paul Bleach from City of Portsmouth AC a further 14 seconds ahead.

This popular race in the autumn calendar attracted 229 runners who set out for the event which was organised by Portsmouth Joggers.

Tim Crumpton checked in at the finish with 43rd place thanks to a time of 41.57, while Susie MacGregor, back in the fold after a disappointing run of injuries which forced her to miss the New Forest Marathon, eased her way round with a time of 44.01 for 60th overall and fifth lady. The ladies race was won by 31st placed Jo Hesketh from Steyning AC with 40.30.

Margie Pritchard was also in the mix with a fast time of 47.56 for 94th overall, followed by John Simister in 120th and 50.04, Verity Wright in 155th in 53.02, Sandie McIntosh with 55.58 for 175th place, Karen Dean whose 199th place was run in 58.52, and Sue Simister who clocked 1hr 4min 38sec for 221st.
