Bognor Prom 10km

Darrell Millner

WHAT a weekend for Darrell Millner – the birth of his first child, a trip to Wembley and the Bognor Prom 10km…..it doesn’t get more exciting than that!!

It was a hectic weekend for Darrell and partner Alison, whose son was born on Friday evening. Izaak David Milner weighed in at 8lb 14oz for the couple, though Darrell admitted he was sweating a little about the timing of the birth.

“It was a relief as I had a ticket to the cup final on Saturday and the baby was already overdue by four days!” he said. “Anyway, after all the excitement, I left Alison in the hospital on Sunday and went down to the race on my own for once.”

Darrell had a good run finishing 53rd in a time of 39min 14sec which he described afterwards as “not bad”. He added. “This was a very well organised race with a big field. The organisers had laid on free parking right next to the start/finish line.

“It was pretty windy for the first three-and-a-half miles along the seafront.”

The Bognor Prom 10km, organised by the Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham, is now in its 14th year, and this year’s out and back race along the promenade incorporated the Sussex 10km Championships.
