Bluebell 10km
STUBBIES have a sensitive side, and five green-vested runners headed off to West Sussex at the weekend to enjoy the bluebells which are not out in force.
They were taking part in the Bluebell 10km trail race, which is staged at Patching near Arundel. Some 485 runners competed in the event around the Angmering Park Estate.
John Simister led the Stubbies home in 154th place with a time of 51min 50sec. The evergreen John Vose was just behind in 158th with 52.13, followed by John French with 53.39 for 187th. John Randall clocked a time of 58.05 for 269th and Sue Simister was the lone female Stubby with a time of 69.18 for 383rd.
The race was won by Chris Jake from Chichester Runners with 37 minutes on the button, and Ulla Korenjak from Ryde Runners on the Isle of Wight captured the ladies' honours with a time of 39.50.
